I just love to drive, I learned to drive early, probably when I was 15, even without a license. I was not very encouraged at first, had a feeling as a woman that the world was expecting me to occupy the passenger seat and remember to be called a bad driver by most of the men near me for many moments.
Once I started I never stopped and during all these years I have had thousands of incredible experiences around the world, just for the simple fact of being able to drive myself around. It is a great feeling of freedom to be able to choose and drive me wherever my heart feels pleased.
I just love to lose myself in new roads, avenues, new geographies, and colours of each different environment, for me, it is the best way to connect with my heart and intuition. Some memories of the places I had the opportunity to visit, and the histories I created driving around the world last forever, and now and then I return my mind to some of these days and find there my heart pumping with adventure, fear and bliss. These feelings always give me a push-up, and hope for the tough days of routine life, every time I need some incentive or courage I return my mind to some of these many awesome adventures.
The picture is one of the most unforgettable road drives I did in my life!
I was by myself, on a motorbike, the weather changed a lot during the 5 hours of the trip, was overcast, rained, and the sun popped shining too. I was heading to visit Ulun Danu temple in the heart of Bali island; in the region of the biggest rice field in Indonesia, which is
also the second largest lake in Bali which irrigates all the rice fields. So special a massive island rounded by salt water with some clear and sweet water right in its centre, it's precious.
I remember the smell of the road, I had to stop for a while cause of the strong rain and ended up to had petrol and a raincoat in a very simple tent store, where I made some friends.
I was not completely prepared for the trip, had a feeling that has just another of the many Indonesian temples, and had no idea how far it was. I always liked to travel like that, a little organized and planned, but leaving space for the unpredictable, for the divine magic of the unexpected happens.
At that point I had visited many different temples there, and loved the culture of it, all the ceremonies, clothes and rituals involved, even though I am not religious, had been in love with religion as a culture for a while and had experienced many different kinds of ceremonies around the world just for the experience of understanding the people's beliefs and passions.
This temple is devoted to the goddess of water, lakes, and rivers, I arrived at the low tide and had been told to wait until it get up to see the all beauty of the small tine temple, and after some hours of joy, meditations contemplating the lake, my thoughts and feeling; the delicate temple surrender by a beautiful garden appears to be floating on the smooth reflective surface of the lake.
I felt blessed to be able to drive there, to appreciate the beautiful view of the lake, I believe it is the most special temple I visit out there. Hardly recommended.
It was a dream trip.
Love,
Pura
